NOAH'S SOLO SHOW
I am in the process of writing a solo show. This show will give me the creative freedom to play harmonica, marimba, percussion and sing - all in the same night. It is certainly the most ambitious project I've undertaken. The songs will not only incorporate the process of live looping, but they will depend on it. This means that as I perform a part, it is recorded by a looper. I control where the loop begins and ends with an array of pedals and controllers. This is necessary for me because, unlike a guitarist or a piano player, I can't sing and play the harmonica at the same time. Looping parts also allows me to build layers of many instruments. To have maximum flexibility with the arrangements of my songs I've been pushing the boundaries of live looping. My rig is a well thought out system that merges high-end looping devices and effects processors with acoustic instruments. During the show, it executes orders that I've custom programmed to suit my songs. In a nutshell, it sends out multiple messages to various components of the rig. In this way, I consider it an instrument in it's own right.

I'm having a blast letting my imagination run wild during this writing and experimentation phase. I trust myself and I trust the artistic process. It is a really cool feeling to sing over my harmonica playing and I'm excited to start playing shows!

Look for my show to launch sometime in 2010. Sign-up on the email list to find out the latest. In the mean time, check out the gigs list to see where else you can catch me live.
